PvP on ANASTARIA is meant to be readable. You should see a fight developing, have time to drink a potion, teleport or run, and understand afterwards why it ended. This guide explains the rules behind that.
Your Shield (SD) is the first warning
In PvP, 90% of incoming damage hits your SD first. While SD is high, your life barely moves. When the SD bar drops quickly, that is the moment to react: drink a Shield Potion, step back, ask your Elf for a buff or leave the fight. Waiting until your HP falls is usually too late.
Where you fight changes the damage
| Combat type | Damage | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Open world (PvP / PK) | 100% | The reference value. |
| Duel | 100% | Identical to open-world PvP, so a duel shows real strength. |
| Gens battles | 80% | Group fights with buffs and focus fire; a little longer so tactics matter more than numbers. |
| Chaos Castle, Illusion Temple, Arena | 50% | Event rules. |
| Monsters | 100% | PvP class rates never affect hunting. |
Class balance
Without resets, characters have roughly 2,000–3,000 stat points at level 400. At that range the original formulas let Dark Knights, Dark Lords and Rage Fighters defeat other players several times faster than casters and archers. The PvP rates correct most of that gap without erasing class identity:
| Class | PvP damage |
|---|---|
| Dark Wizard, Fairy Elf, Summoner | 125% |
| Magic Gladiator | 100% |
| Dark Knight, Dark Lord, Rage Fighter | 75% |
Dark Knights gain the most life per point, so every class deals a little more damage to them: +20% from Dark Wizards, Fairy Elves and Summoners, +15% from Magic Gladiators, +10% from Dark Knights and Rage Fighters and +5% from Dark Lords.
The rates were calculated from the server's damage, defence, life, Shield and hit-rate formulas for typical builds. They are starting values: duel results will be reviewed and adjusted in small steps. Equipment, buffs and how you play still decide most fights.
No hidden one-shots
| Effect | Limit |
|---|---|
| Critical damage chance | 30% |
| Excellent damage chance | 30% |
| Double damage chance | 10% |
| Triple damage chance | 5% |
| Damage reduction from all sources | 50% |
| Mana Shield | 50% |
| Total reflect | 40% (in PvP, 80% of the reflected amount is returned) |
| Summoner curses on players | 30% (40% on monsters) |
| Stun | 4 seconds |
| Sleep | Up to 3 seconds |
| Ice Arrow freeze | 3 seconds |
Stacking more of one bonus beyond its limit gives nothing. Spread your options: a balanced set beats one stat pushed past its cap.
Duels
- The first player to reach 10 points wins; a duel lasts up to 20 minutes.
- There is no betting.
- Potions work in the Duel Arena, so bring them.
PK and self-defence
- If someone attacks you, you get 60 seconds of self-defence to fight back without becoming a murderer. Party members are covered too.
- A PK character cannot open a Personal Store and cannot enter Blood Castle, Chaos Castle or Devil Square.
- PK status fades with time.
- Item loss on PK death is switched off in the current configuration. This still awaits in-game confirmation, so do not risk items you cannot afford to lose.
Gens
Gens are two rival families, Duprian and Vanert. You can join from level 50. Defeating a member of the rival family earns contribution; the defeated player loses some. Contribution decides your Gens rank and rewards. Killing the same player again and again does not keep paying: the server limits repeated contribution from the same victim.
Support in a party
- Energy Elf: Greater Damage adds about 3 + Energy/7 damage and Greater Defense about 2 + Energy/8 defence for 60 seconds, on any party member. With around 1,000 Energy that is roughly +145 damage and +127 defence.
- Dark Wizard: Mana Shield up to 50% for the party.
- Rage Fighter: Fitness (up to +200 Vitality), Defense Success Rate (up to +50%) and Ignore Defense (up to 10%).
Combo is configured for every class using the classic three-skill sequence.
